A Modern Take on the Eternal Dao

A Modern Take on the Eternal Dao

I came across a video in my YouTube feed that I want to share. I want to share because the video discusses something we all think about, consciousness. What I liked about the video from Annaka Harris is that she explains her version of consciousness, and you know what, it sounds to me just like the concepts found in the Eternal Dao.

The basic concepts in Daoism are:

The Dao is essentially unknowable.

The Dao is the way the universe grows and manifests and how it changes in the progression in time. The universe is intelligent and yet we are not capable of understanding it, and mainly because we are the Dao. The Dao trying to explain itself creates a duality, and the Dao is unity. Which means the more we talk about the Dao the further away from it we go. Essentially it must be felt to be understood.

The Dao is spontaneous.

We as humans think that our world is stabile and predictable, but that is a false assumption. We, and our universe are constantly changing, and the Dao is the source of the spontaneous changing.

For example, we build dykes here in Holland to control the water. And every once in awhile there is a flood. The flood is the Dao manifesting itself spontaneously.

Here is some more information about Annaka Harris. You might want to further you knowledge, who knows?
